Forum Tackles Racial Bias During Wartime

A Cypress College forum on Thursday will focus on racial discrimination during wartime and similarities between the experiences of Japanese Americans during World War II and Muslims since the terrorist attacks.

Featured panelists will include John Saito, a former regional director for the Japanese American Citizens League who was relocated to a Japanese internment camp during World War II, and Salam Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council. Several Arab American and Muslim students will also talk about discrimination they have experienced since the attacks.

The free forum will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the college’s theater, 9200 Valley View St.
