Man Accused of Attempted Rape
A 46-year-old man was booked Tuesday on suspicion of attempted rape and burglary, authorities said.
Gerrard Hood allegedly attempted to break into the apartment of a female acquaintance about 5 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities said Hood accosted the same woman Saturday night but fled before officers arrived.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Griffin said Hood was scared off Tuesday by an approaching neighbor and arrested after authorities set up a surveillance area around the neighborhood. The attempted-rape charge stems from the Saturday incident, Griffin said.
Hood is being held at Lancaster Jail in lieu of $80,000 bail.
