Starry, Starry Night: Friday night I would probably go out to Point Dume or Zuma Beach, and climb to the top of the cliffs. And I would sit out and watch the stars until I fell asleep. It’s amazing out there at night. There’s beach on both sides of this cliff, and the cliff comes up 100 feet off the water. On your right and left you have sand, and in front is the ocean bashing into the rocks. At night you can’t see anything except for the stars.

Nature Boy: Saturday morning I’d wake up around 6:30 and go surf at Big Dume, a cove in Malibu that has very good waves, until 10 or 11. Then I’d have lunch with my girlfriend [Laura Prepon of “That ‘70s Show”]. And then I’d go ride one of my horses. My house borders on the land owned by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, so there are thousands of acres undeveloped. I go out on fire roads up into the hills and then follow some natural trails.

Dinner at 8: Around 8 o’clock I’d go for dinner at Vida in Los Feliz. Vida’s excellent. It’s this small restaurant in this place that had no sign for years. People would go to meet me there, and I’d never see them. Now they have a sign, and it’s yellow. It’s really laid back, and the wait staff is very cool and knowledgeable about the food. They have a straightforward menu, but it’s a twist on everything. Susan’s Going on a Picnic is the name of one of their salads, for instance, and they have a cool drink called the Roadkill. In L.A., each Saturday night is different, but I’d probably first go to the Galaxy theater and see a movie until about midnight, and then go to La Poubelle, not far away on Franklin.

Up, Up and Away: Sunday I’d drive down south, just before San Diego, and go on a balloon ride. My manager bought me a balloon ride for my birthday that I haven’t done. It sounds scary. I have issue with doing things where there’s any death factor when I don’t have control. I surf and rock climb pretty seriously, but even though it’s dangerous, it’s my call whether I do something stupid.
