Disney/Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” gobbled up ticket sales, grossing $45.6 million to remain the top-drawing movie for the second week.

The animated film has now grossed $122.2 million, reaching the symbolic $100-million mark in nine days. The previous record of 11 days for animated films was held by “The Lion King,” “Toy Story 2” and “Shrek.”

“Shallow Hal” proved a pleasant box-office surprise for 20th Century Fox with $22.5 million, but Warner Bros. had to be disappointed with the lackluster debut of David Mamet’s “Heist,” which grossed $7.8 million.
