Absent Fathers

Re “Foster System: A Baby Starves to Death,” letters, Nov. 8:

Does anyone not see the missing piece in Danzel Bailey’s tragic death--the father? A letter writer called for death for the grandmother (more violence), not one time asking for accountability on the part of the father. Another letter suggested sterilizing the women.

What about the men? A man played a role in this child’s life somewhere along the way. Why are we not, as a civilized society, seeking to hold both mother and father equally accountable? We have let the fathers of these victims walk away free and clear in every respect. Not our society, not the welfare system, not organized religion, not our educational system, not even the media seem interested in taking the fathers to task. Stop placing the blame on one party. Hold men accountable for their actions as well.
