Getaway Driver Gets Life Without Parole
The driver of a getaway van received life in prison without parole Friday in the death of a Costco shopper outside the Van Nuys store.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ordered Ignacio Cervantes Chavez, 48, of Van Nuys to serve life plus 17 years in prison. He was convicted Nov. 2 of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
Owen Wolf, 29, of Studio City was killed and three other shoppers were wounded during the robbery attempt and shootout with an armored car guard by Chavez and his brother.
Ramon Gutierrez, 39, of Tijuana, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the killing and also was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
