High Greens Fees Are Par For O.C. Courses

Re “Golf Course Tees Off in Yorba Linda,” Nov. 16:

Well, what do you know--another Orange County golf course we’ll never play because of ridiculous and exorbitant prices. My husband and I, both avid golfers, have for years driven as far as Hemet, Temecula and Pedley (even Victorville!) to play very enjoyable golf on nicely kept courses with extremely reasonable greens fees. Moreover, the pro-shop employees we encounter are unfailingly amiable, polite and not the slightest bit condescending--qualities we rarely find in their counterparts at courses in Orange County, where pseudo-elitism reigns supreme. Oh well, it beats the interminable wait at every tee box for at least two groups of moneyed hackers to slice their drives into someone else’s fairway and then putt every “gimme.”
