Students, Staff Evacuate After UCI Lab Explosion
From Times Wire Reports
A small explosion prompted the evacuation of two dozen staff and students Tuesday at UC Irvine, officials said.
Fire alarms sounded shortly before noon after a blower containing natural gas exploded in the school’s engineering laboratory, spokeswoman Karen Young said.
No one was injured, but about 20 students and three technicians were evacuated from the second-floor lab, Young said. The blower measures combustible materials.
