* The Emmy Award-winning actress co-stars in “The Ellen Show,” Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS.Big Problem: I have a fantastic problem. I have this fabulous bed with a huge magnetic mattress, and I get my pillows and the phone and the clicker and my books, and make something wonderful to drink, and I have the most wonderful time staying right here.

Grandma’s Featherbed: If my grandchildren are over, we’re all in the kitchen doing things. I have four granddaughters-16, 13, 10 and 9--and a grandson who’s 7. They might come and get into the big bed with me and we’ll talk and watch some dreadful thing on TV and play. Or we might pack a picnic and go exploring. They might go down where the ravine is by my house, in all those eucalyptus trees up above the Veterans Administration grounds in Brentwood.

In or Out: I really like to eat at home because it’s so fresh and simple and delicious and tasty. But I also love Giorgio’s in Santa Monica. It’s a great Italian restaurant. I love the langustino and the spicy shrimp penne. I like to look at the side dishes and appetizers, because I don’t eat meat, and I like taste thrills. So I might order all appetizers. Giorgio actually cooks and you can see him there in the kitchen.

Local Landmark: I might go up to Bellwood, a bakery, and get a vegetarian sandwich. It’s on Barrington, south of Sunset. They have very good light sandwiches and things. But more than that, we all saved the trees up there. They were tearing them down at a great rate because of the sidewalks, and we managed to save a few. The one in front of Bellwood was one of the ones we saved. Another Big Problem: I want to exercise. So I’ve got a gym in one of my rooms here. And if I ever do it, I feel a million times better and enjoy it. But I tend to think about things--like learning my lines or exercising-and it affects my imagination, so it’s as if I’ve done it. And I’m still sitting on my magnetic mattress!
