Helping Children
On Oct. 11 the president asked the children of America to help the children of Afghanistan by sending a contribution of $1 to the White House. The Red Cross would then use the money for food, clothing, medicine and shelter for the children of Afghanistan. More important than the propaganda value is giving children the opportunity to make a difference, to participate and to communicate. What a front-page idea! Why did The Times decide to bury it on Page A16?
