County Considers Proposed Energy Plant
From Times Wire Reports
A coal-powered electric plant that would be the largest in the state is being discussed by the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors.
There’s no guarantee that the plant, which would produce 2,400 to 4,800 megawatts of electricity, will be built.
Melbourne Giberson, president of Sacramento-based Fernald Power, wants to build the plant on the Samoa peninsula. He said the plant would cost up to $10 billion to build, all of which he said would come from corporate bonds.
