Struggling chip maker Transmeta Corp. replaced its chief executive, just seven months after his appointment.

Mark K. Allen, who was named to the post after founder David Ditzel stepped down in March, was replaced by Transmeta Chairman Murray A. Goldman.

Ditzel remains with the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company as chief technology officer.

The company also named board member Hugh Barnes as president and chief operating officer.
