Bloomberg News

ASML Holding, the leading maker of machines that print circuits onto semiconductors, will cut an additional 17% of its jobs and take fourth-quarter charges of as much as $390 million as demand from chip makers sags.

ASML will eliminate about 1,400 of its 8,000 positions, mainly in the United States. That brings total reductions this year to about 2,000, or 23% of the Amsterdam-based company’s work force. ASML is slashing costs as customers such as Royal Philips Electronics and STMicroelectronics pare orders.
