Preliminary autopsy results failed to determine the cause of death for cross-country runner Jason Kortekaas of Victorville Silverado High.

Kortekaas, a 17-year-old senior, died Oct. 10 after being in a coma for 11 days following his collapse during a cross-country race at Yucaipa High on Sept. 29.

Ron Kortekaas, Jason’s father, said the coroner’s office told him results were pending and “it could be six to 12 weeks before they got back the results of other tests.”
