Role in Theft of Oscars Admitted
From Times Staff Reports
A La Puente man pleaded no contest Tuesday to receiving stolen property in connection with the theft of 55 Oscar statuettes in March 2000.
Anthony Hart, 39, changed his not-guilty plea in Los Angeles County Superior Court as his trial was scheduled to begin. He is expected to face three years’ probation and a $200 fine when he is sentenced Dec. 5.
Hart is the last of three suspects to change a not-guilty plea in the case.
The statuettes disappeared from a loading dock in Bell days before the ceremony.
