From Times Wire Reports

U.S. jet fighters escorted a private jet headed for Washington, D.C., to an unscheduled landing in Brandon, Canada, because of incorrect information from an on-board electronic device.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Steve Saunders said F-16s from Minot Air Base, N.D., brought the Gulfstream aircraft to its landing 50 miles north of the U.S.-Canadian border. The plane, with 10 people aboard, was flying to the U.S. from Japan.

Police and emergency vehicles surrounded the plane, but Saunders said the incident was not a security threat.
