Ferrying Along Canada’s West Coast

Share

Regarding the story about riding the ferries in British Columbia (“A Canadian Ferry Tale,” Aug. 19): It was a surprise and a pleasure to read an article that was true to its subject, especially a subject literally close to home.

Too often, travel articles turn their subject matter into a parody of itself. (British Columbia’s city of Victoria is “olde England,” for example.) I’ve traveled only parts of the coast, but I certainly recognized what you described.

What might be the real shame is that too few British Columbians take the trip that writer Susan Spano took. But then again, when you live in paradise, do you need to?
