Cheap Tickets Inc., an Internet travel seller being acquired by Cendant Corp., is closing its Los Angeles call center as it consolidates the number of reservation centers it operates.
About 110 jobs will be affected by the closing, spokeswoman Dawn Soper Lyon said. Cheap Tickets said it will take a third-quarter pretax charge of $1.7 million, or 4 cents to 5 cents a share, for the closing of the facility and employee severance packages.
Cheap Tickets said the displaced workers will be able to apply for job vacancies in other call centers. The Honolulu-based company also has call centers in Lakeport, Calif., Honolulu and Colorado Springs, Colo.
Shares of Cheap Tickets were unchanged at $16.44 on Nasdaq. The company made its announcement after the close of U.S. markets.
