The 4th District Needs LaBonge

Share

Los Angeles’ 4th City Council District, left unrepresented by the April death of Councilman John Ferraro, holds a special election Tuesday to fill the seat. We’d like to reiterate The Times’ support of Tom LaBonge as the person best suited to represent the district.

Ten candidates are vying, and the last week has seen a fierce battle in the political mailers. Most of the candidates are fighting just to get into a runoff in the crowded field. LaBonge has run a positive campaign, citing his experience as a deputy to both Ferraro and then-Mayor Richard Riordan, as well as his activism and deep knowledge of the district. The far-flung district includes North Hollywood, Hancock Park, mid-Wilshire and Silver Lake and needs an experienced advocate.

The Times endorses Tom LaBonge for City Council.
