Santa Margarita District Board for Water Cuts Tax
Santa Margarita Water District customers will see a property tax cut next year.
The district’s board of directors voted last month to reduce water infrastructure-related property tax rates that are used to repay bonds. Increases in assessed property values throughout the service area and a growing consumer base allowed the district to cut rates.
Savings vary in different areas that the district serves. The rates have been cut by an average of:
* 9% in Mission Viejo;
* 3.6% in Las Flores;
* 8.3% in Rancho Santa Margarita; and
* 14.2% in Cota de Caza.
