LPGA Shortens, Then Scrubs Portland Event

PORTLAND, Ore. —
The LPGA on Thursday canceled the Safeway Classic here because of Tuesday’s attacks.
Commissioner Ty Votaw announced earlier Thursday that the tournament would be shortened from 54 holes to 36, to be played Saturday and Sunday.
But after NFL games, a NASCAR race and more college football games were canceled or postponed, the LPGA decided to scrap the tournament altogether.
