Woods Pulls Out of Paris Event

Tiger Woods pulled out of next week’s European PGA Tour event at Paris for safety reasons and because he says it’s inappropriate to play golf right now.

Woods, who was supposed to fly Sunday to Paris for the Lancome Trophy, said on his Web site that he believes it is more important to remember the victims of Tuesday’s deadly terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

“I also fear that the security risks of traveling overseas at the present time are too great,” Woods said on his Internet site, https://www.tigerwoods.com.

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg of IMG, said it is too early to speculate whether Woods would not want to play in the Ryder Cup in two weeks at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, England.
