From Times Wire Reports

The hundreds of cars left unattended for the last several days in the commuter parking lots of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut stand as another chilling indicator of the death toll at the World Trade Center, officials in Princeton Junction said.

Officials hope the cars belong to rescue workers or people stranded at airports. But police are checking the license plates against the lists of those missing, worried that some of the vehicles belong to bus and train commuters who never made it out of the twin towers.
