The light of 6,300 candles pierced the darkness as fans and drivers joined in a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks after a night of racing at Irwindale Speedway.

Before the racing began, drivers from all four of the featured divisions went through the stands collecting donations from fans.

The San Gabriel chapter of the American Red Cross received nearly $35,000 in donations from proceeds from the track and donations from fans, the American Race Truck Series and various racing teams.

In the Food 4 Less Super Late Model’s main event, the Miller Lite 100, Brandon Loverock of Santa Fe Springs, earned his first victory at the track after after David Gilliland lost power on lap 96.

Loverock held off Tommy Fry and Tony Green.

Sean Woodside, with his ninth-place finish, clinched the 10-race Miller Lite Big Ten Challenge.

In the 75-lap American Race Truck main event, Alta Loma’s John Hulsebosch held the lead the final 53 laps for his first career victory in the series.

Dean Kuhn earned his 10th victory of the season as he took the 35-lap Grand American Modified main event.
