When: Today-Sunday.

Purse: $3.3 million. Winner’s share: $594,000.

TV: ESPN (today-Friday, noon-3 p.m.; Saturday, 1-3 p.m.; Sunday, 2-4 p.m.).

Last year: Chris DiMarco won his first tour title, a six-stroke victory at Waynesborough Country Club in Paoli.

Last week: The American Express Championship and Tampa Bay Classic were canceled because of the terrorist attacks. The Ryder Cup, scheduled for Sept. 28-30 in England, was postponed until 2002.

Last event: Scott Verplank won the Canadian Open on Sept. 9, beating Bob Estes and Joey Sindelar by three strokes at Royal Montreal.

Notes: The course is about 15 miles from the crash site of United Flight 93 .... Arnold Palmer, instrumental in creating the event in his home state, is making his 731st PGA Tour start. He turned 72 on Sept. 10

Notes: Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb are returning to play. Sorenstam leads the tour with six victories and earnings of $1,608,941

SENIOR PGA TOUR

SAS CHAMPIONSHIP

Where: Prestonwood Country Club (7,137 yards, par 72); Cary, N.C.

When: Friday-Sunday.

Purse: $1.6 million. Winner’s share: $240,000.

TV: PAX (Friday, 10 a.m.-noon) and CNBC (Saturday-Sunday, 3-5 p.m.).

Last year: Inaugural event.

Last week: The Vantage Championship in Clemmons, N.C., was canceled because of the terrorist attacks.

Last event: Jim Thorpe won for the second consecutive week, beating Gil Morgan by two strokes in the inaugural Allianz Championship on Sept. 9 in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Notes: Thorpe is trying to become the fifth tour player to win at least three consecutive events.

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR

LANCOME TROPHY

Where: Saint Nom La Breteche Golf Club (6,903 yards, par 71); Saint Nom La Breteche, France.

When: Today-Sunday.

Purse: $1.33 million. Winner’s share: $221,500.

TV: The Golf Channel (today-Sunday, 6-9 a.m., 5-7:30 p.m.).

Last year: U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen beat Michael Campbell and Darren Clarke by two strokes.

Last event: Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez won his first European tour title, winning the European Masters by three strokes on Sept. 9.

Notes: Tiger Woods withdrew after the terrorist attacks. Sergio Garcia is in the field.
