Housing and Mortgage Groups Give $25 Million

The nation’s housing and mortgage finance industry partners have united with a pledge of a minimum of $25 million to support the victims, families, rescue workers and others affected by the tragic events Sept. 11.

Partners in this effort include Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the National Assn. of Home Builders, National Assn. of Realtors, Mortgage Bankers Assn. of America, the National Multi Housing Council, the Independent Community Bankers of America and the Homeownership Alliance.

Realtors Pledge $25,000to Families of Victims

The California Assn. of Realtors will give $25,000 to the Realtors Housing Relief Fund to help victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The National Assn. of Realtors established the Realtors Housing Relief Fund to raise money to help victims’ families meet their housing costs. The group raised more than $1.7 million in donations and pledges within six days of establishing the fund. Individuals may call (800) 874-6500 to contribute.

Peace of Mind Plan Aids Those Affected by Attacks

Freddie Mac announced a Peace of Mind Plan so no borrowers with Freddie Mac-owned mortgages will lose their homes as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes. Servicers and borrowers can call Freddie Mac’s Customer Care Line at (800) 743-0076 for more information about Freddie Mac’s mortgage relief options and how they can be applied to individual cases.
