Shooting victim--A story in Saturday’s California section incorrectly identified a man who had been fatally wounded in a shooting in the 4700 block of Orange Street in Pico Rivera. Jaime Morones, 26, of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at 12:24 a.m. Friday at USC-Medical Center.

According to authorities, one of the occupants of the white car asked the men where they were from, and when they replied that they were “from nowhere,” he opened fire, striking Rocha and Soto.

Rocha was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:24 a.m.

Soto was taken to Beverly Hospital, where he was released after being treated for bullet wounds in the leg and arm. The occupants of the white car escaped.

Rodriguez said detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting was gang-related but added that they do not believe that either Rocha or Soto was a gang member.
