A leading conservative Episcopal priest barred from his Pennsylvania pulpit is planning to seek help from Anglican bishops when they meet in London this month.

The Rev. David Moyer, who was suspended from his suburban Philadelphia parish on March 4 after a long-running feud with Bishop Charles Bennison, told the Washington Times he was not going to London to “cause trouble.”

“I am going to seek their counsel and their intervention,” said Moyer, who is also president of Forward in Faith, a group of conservative and evangelical Episcopalians.

Moyer, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, has denied Bennison communion and refused his pastoral visits because of the bishop’s liberal theology. The diocese’s standing committee voted to “inhibit” Moyer for six months, and Bennison approved the move soon after.
