The millionaire Dashing Knud will make his first start as a 4-year-old in tonight’s $26,400 Kaweah Bar Handicap at Los Alamitos.
Owned by Gordon Knudsen and Vessels Stallion Farm and trained by Danny Cardoza, the gray will be making his first start since he finished sixth in the Golden State Derby July 27.
A winner of 10 of 16 lifetime and $1,010,846 in purses, Dashing Knud won the Golden State Futurity and the Los Alamitos Million as a 2-year-old. Kenny Hart will ride the gelding, the 5-2 third choice in the field of five, for the first time.
Just Down The Lane, a 6-year-old gelding bred in Utah who has won two in a row, is the 9-5 favorite in the 350-yard contest.
The field is completed by Classic First, A Secret Account and All American Jewel.
