From Times Wire Reports

More than 300 DePauw University students were evacuated when a fire burned through a residence hall built in 1917. None of the students was injured, authorities said.

The morning fire at Rector Hall apparently began on the fourth floor, which later collapsed from the fire and intense heat. The blaze sent flames and thick, black smoke rising above the school.

It was unclear what sparked the fire at the campus in Greencastle, which was still burning at midday. Damage estimates were not immediately available.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation, said DePauw spokesman Ken Owen.
