Special-Interest Funding

Gov. Gray Davis has mismanaged California’s schools, energy supplies and state budget, yet he continues to be a prodigious fund-raiser. Why? As noted in “Simon Trails Davis in Major Fund-Raising” (April 10), our governor raked in $251,000 from the California Correctional Peace Officers Assn. after he agreed to a substantial raise for state prison guards and recommended that five private prisons be closed.
At the very least, Davis gives the appearance that he is a politician who is for sale to special interests. That is why voters who care about about California’s schools, energy and budget should vote for Bill Simon.
