Dick Clark Files Suit Over Planned Museum

Dick Clark Productions Inc., founded by the former host of “American Bandstand,” sued a developer after a planned music-themed museum fell through.

Dick Clark claims that Queens Seaport Development, the operator of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, breached a 1999 accord to develop “Dick Clark’s Great American Music Experience.” The developer last year told Clark that it couldn’t raise the money to build and operate the museum, the suit said.

Clark claims Queens Seaport breached a contract to pay him a minimum fee of $2.9 million, a $15,000 monthly consulting fee and a cut of the museum’s admission and sales. The suit seeks at least $10 million in punitive damages in addition to compensatory damages.
