Guilty Plea Entered in Crash That Killed Teen
A North Hollywood man charged with killing a 14-year-old girl in a New Year’s Day crash in Sun Valley pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter, prosecutors announced.
Gerardo Flores, 29, pleaded guilty to two felony counts--gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher. Flores faces seven years, eight months in state prison when he is sentenced May 20.
Flores admitted to running a red light and hitting another car at Roscoe and Laurel Canyon boulevards. The collision, which occurred about 12:30 a.m., killed the girl and injured her 16-year-old brother, prosecutors said.
