Contract Awarded for Lang Ranch Dam Project

From Times Staff Reports

A Redding construction firm will be paid $3.8 million to build the Lang Ranch Dam.

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors this week unanimously approved a contract with Ladd and Associates to build the 66 1/2-foot-high embankment with detention and debris basins.

Ventura County flood control officials maintain that the dam is needed to protect residents downstream in the event of a catastrophic storm.

A group of opponents filed a lawsuit earlier this year seeking to halt the project but dropped the suit last week after the county made it clear it would go forward despite pending litigation.
