Learning English Should Be Immigrants’ Priority
Re “Clout Party for Young Latinos,” April 20:
I think it is a great idea that young people are out there encouraging people to register to vote. That said, I want to comment on Araceli Vallejo’s frustration. The first priority of anyone immigrating to the United States should be to learn to speak English. Should we be expected to learn foreign languages to accommodate those who cannot or will not learn our language? Do something else positive, Araceli. Teach your mother to speak English.
