No sleep-inducing drugs were found in the blood of a Simi Valley man whose wife and stepdaughter are accused of trying to kill him in his bedroom four months ago, a toxicologist testified at their trial Friday.

Eileen Childs, 37, and her daughter, Jennifer Childs, 19, are charged with setting fire to 57-year-old Larry Childs’ mattress and then beating him with baseball bats.

According to court testimony, Jennifer Childs made a milkshake for her stepfather before he went to sleep on March 25. Prosecutors have suggested she might have slipped a sedative into the drink.
