New York Athletic Club and Newport Beach Water Polo remained on a collision course for the championship game of the U.S. Men’s Senior National Water Polo tournament as each team advanced to the semifinals with pool-play victories Saturday at Corona del Mar High in Newport Beach.

New York, the defending champion and winner of three of the last five tournaments, defeated Sunset Water Polo, 15-7, in the morning, then cruised to a 6-1 victory over its own B team in the afternoon to remain unbeaten through three days of play.

Newport, the only other undefeated team in the tournament, got 10 goals in two games from two-meter man Ryan Bailey. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Bailey scored four times in an 11-4 victory over Golden Bear Water Polo and had six goals in a 12-4 victory over Malibu.
