‘Special’ Election Official

Share

Katherine Harris once again ignores the law and gets away with it (“Election Chief Quits Belatedly,” Aug. 2). We all know why her boss, Gov. Jeb Bush, wanted her as the enforcer of Florida’s election laws when his brother ran for president, and clearly it was not for her competence. Nor is Bush or Harris much concerned with the fact that she is required to resign immediately, not retroactively, and not after her replacement is found. What, they don’t have an assistant secretary of state in Florida?

After her blatant favoritism in stopping the 2000 Florida recount, is anyone surprised that Harris thought the law did not apply to her office?
