San Bernardino County authorities said Tuesday that they served a search warrant on an Alta Loma house in connection with the reported intimidation of a 16-year-old girl allegedly gang-raped in Newport Beach last month.

According to property records, the house belongs to Gail Haidl, mother of one of the three boys charged with the crime and ex-wife of Orange County Assistant Sheriff Donald Haidl.

“The warrant was served yesterday, and I don’t know what was found,” said Robin Haynal of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The search warrant was issued, police said, after reports about three weeks ago that the girl and members of her family were being followed and photographed. Police added that fliers were posted in the girl’s neighborhood and at local business complexes asking people to call one of two numbers if they had information on her family or the rape.

When the numbers were called, police said, a woman on an answering machine who said she was related to the girl thanked callers and asked them to leave their names and numbers. Police served a search warrant on Verizon Communications, which connected the numbers to the Alta Loma address.

The three teens are accused of drugging and gang-raping the girl during a July 5 party at the Newport Beach home of Donald Haidl.
