U.S. Helicopters Create Chaos at Beach
From Times Wire Reports
The United States and Italy launched a joint inquiry into why U.S. Air Force helicopters swooped over a crowded beach, panicking vacationers.
The three craft whipped up whirlwinds as the pilots skimmed the southeastern coast Tuesday, scattering beach chairs and umbrellas. Five people were hurt by the flying furniture. Italian media reported that the helicopters swooped over the beach so crews could wave to sunbathing women.
The U.S. Embassy apologized.
