Two bicycle makers have agreed to recall several models that could have defective steering components, federal safety regulators said.

The recall affects about 2,300 bikes made by Marin Mountain Bikes and Cannondale Corp., the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

Cannondale, based in Bethel, Conn., is recalling about 1,300 bicycles to replace a defective handlebar stem. The stem is black and has the model name 3T ZEPP XL printed in white. Owners should contact their dealers for a free repair.
