Pakistan Militants Plead Not Guilty

Share

Three Islamic militants pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that they planned and executed a car bombing outside the U.S. Consulate here in June. A judge scheduled their trial for Saturday.

Mohammed Imran, Mohammed Hanif and Mohammed Ashraf are charged with conspiracy, murder and terrorism in the bombing that killed 12 Pakistanis. All the charges carry the death penalty.

Their indictments took place in their jail. Police allege that the three belong to the outlawed Harkat-ul-Moujahedeen al-Almi, an offshoot of a group fighting in the Indian-held portion of Kashmir.
