Oppression, be it racial, sexual or cultural, is something Ursula Rucker can’t abide, and the Philadelphia poet and singer’s crusade--conducted through her collaborations with such artists as the Roots and King Britt as well as on her own acclaimed album, “Supa Sista”--has drawn a devoted following. The soulful, musically diverse performer is likely to skewer everyone from macho assailants to musical sellouts when she makes her L.A. appearance.
