From Times Staff Reports

Gerald Dannenberg, a longtime school administrator in Ventura, has been selected by the district board to head schools in Port Hueneme.

Dannenberg, 49, will replace former Supt. Robert Fraisse, who left the 8,000-student Hueneme Elementary School District earlier this year to head the Conejo Valley Unified School District in Thousand Oaks.

Dannenberg’s contract is expected to be approved by the school board Monday, with Dannenberg stepping into the superintendent’s post within a few weeks, district officials said.

Dannenberg has been an assistant superintendent with Ventura Unified for 16 years. His wife, Melinda Dannenberg, has been president of the teachers’ union in the Hueneme district the past five years, but will resign that post, Gerald Dannenberg said.
