Lawyers for the key suspect in the Bali bombing said their client was the brains behind the Oct. 12 blasts and that he looked forward to the death penalty.
Imam Samudra’s legal team of more than a dozen lawyers also said that its client was not ordered to carry out the Bali attacks by any terrorist group.
Police have said Samudra was the main plotter of the nightclub bombings that killed more than 190 people. Some officials have said they believed an international terrorist group such as Al Qaeda or Jemaah Islamiah was responsible.
