Georgia-Pacific Unit Loses Patent Trial
Georgia-Pacific Corp.’s Fort James unit lost a trial in which it was seeking as much as $96 million from Solo Cup Co. over inventions related to the manufacture of paper plates.
A federal jury in Milwaukee said Solo Cup’s All Occasions paper plates didn’t infringe two Fort James patents. Fort James makes Dixie brand paper products.
The patents relate to the process of using pressed paperboard to make containers such as paper cups and plates.
Georgia-Pacific shares fell $2.10, or 10%, to $18.52 on the NYSE.
