San Francisco-based clothing chain Gap Inc. hired advertising agency Leo Burnett USA to develop marketing strategies for its Gap and Banana Republic brands. Leo Burnett was hired in an effort to better understand how customers feel about the two brands, Gap said.

Sunrise Assisted Living Inc. and a co-bidder are in talks to buy Marriott International Inc.’s senior living unit, Sunrise said. The co-bidder would own the properties and Sunrise would manage them.

* National Century Financial Enterprises Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection last month, missed $8.3 million of interest payments due Monday on its asset-backed bonds. The Dublin, Ohio-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after the FBI raided its offices.
