Power riding on two wheels
Anyone with an itch for two wheels and an eye for chrome should enjoy Cycle World’s International Motorcycle Show, beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Hundreds of 2003 model-year motorbikes on display will give testimony to the vehicle’s full range -- the rebel factor of Harley-Davidson, the Italian design of Ducati, the German engineering of BMW or the horsepower of a Japanese sport bike.
Bring a motorcycle license and some gear, and BMW, Buell and Indian will let you take their new wheels for a spin.
Looking for a peek into the growing world of stunt riding? Finnish trials rider Tommi Ahvala will rev his bike up a 16-foot vertical wall onto a flowing waterfall. Now that’s what I call riding.
Cycle World’s International Motorcycle Show, Long Beach Convention Center, 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach; Friday, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; $10 adults, $5 children 6-11, free 5 and younger, cash only; (800) 331-5706 or www.motorcycleshows.com.
