7 on Trial for Helping 70 Escape North Korea

China has put a South Korean and six other people on trial on charges of smuggling 70 North Koreans out of their homeland, the judge handling the case in the city of Yanji said.
Thousands of North Koreans fleeing famine and repression have slipped into China in recent years. Yanji is the capital of the Yanbian region, home to many ethnic Koreans.
