The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 6.19% this week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said. That was up from 6.13% in the previous week and marked the highest rate since the week ended Oct. 25, when 30-year rates averaged 6.31%.
For 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, rates increased to 5.6% this week from last week’s 5.57%.
This week’s mortgage rates do not include add-on fees known as points. Thirty-year mortgage loans and one-year adjustable-rate mortgages carried an average fee of 0.5 point this week. Fifteen-year mortgages carried an average fee of 0.6 point.
